|About the Test Facility|
The Department of Earthquake Engineering, IIT Roorkee has a biaxial, servo-controlled shake table for testing a payload of upto 20 Tonnes against earthquake motions. The facility can reproduce past recorded earthquake time histories, artificial time histories generated to be compatible with the design spectra, sine sweep, or any other regular waveforms in one vertical plane. The facility is housed in a 12 m high test hall equipped with a 15 Tonnes electrically operated overhead travelling crane. An electric substation of 425 KVA provides 3 phase, 440 VAC, 50 Hz power supply to the facility with a provision for 200 Amps, 440 VAC supply for On-Load testing of equipment.
This damper assembly will lead to enhanced seismic resilience while reducing overall costs of providing a safer open ground floor.
A sliding mass floor system is designed and developed to control the seismic response of structures.
