|About the Test Facility|
Shock table test facility at the Department of Earthquake Engineering, IIT Roorkee was developed in 1972. It is an affordable and unique type of facility for analyzing the feasibility, applicability and durability of different kinds of building models under impact type of loading. The pay load capacity of the facility is approximately 20 tonnes.
The facility is suitable for studying the relative merit of different earthquake resistance measures in structural models and feasibility studies on new concepts of earthquake resistance measures.
Model 1 under shock test - unstrengthened model (no ER measures) in mud mortar.
Model 2 under shock test - strengthened with wooden lintel, roof and gable band in mud mortar.
Model 3 under shock test - strengthened with wooden lintel, sill, roof and gable band with vertical reinforcement.
